Who's the political leader of Therengia?
That would be Baron Gyfford Theren. Gyfford ascended to the throne after the sudden death of his father, Jeladric Theren. Gyfford is a Human Paladin, right through to the core. Both Human, and Paladin, that is.

The Lords of Therengia are referred to as the Morzindaen, and there are several of them, each in charge of their own area.
What do I hunt at <#> circle?
For lower-skilled characters, Riverhaven is the place to start. There are Frogs out the east gate, shipyard rats and salt crabs on the eastern dock, crayfish in the creek that runs between goblin shamans and arbelogs, and goblins out the north gate. After those, there are the goblin shamans themselves, with eels and meadow rams (which charge from pole, so be careful).

El Bain's has boars/wood trolls/cougars/kelpies and Blood Wolves when you move a little further up, or you could go into the tunnels and fight dusk ogres. Marauders west of Therenborough and arbelogs/young ogres/bears/scout ogres north of shamans fit nicely in that range, as well.

After that, you can take on Piruati Serpents and vipers, Swamp Trolls in Haven, or daytime barghests (just watch the time, you don't want to be caught out there at night just yet). The unyns on the Mistwood Road will teach enough to bridge to the next level of hunting.

There is more advanced hunting in Lang, Riverhaven, Ker'Leor and Rossman's once you get past unyns.
