| How do I join the ODS? |
Click on the, "Forms," link in the main menu. Open up the Membership Application, complete it, and click, "send." Once you have done that, register on this site.
You will have a 30-day period during which to complete the remaining paperwork, and get to know the other Shielders. Take this time to talk to your sponsor, attend Order events, and let the Council get to know you. After 30 days, and once your paperwork is complete, at the next Council meeting, you will either be approved or asked to apply again in six months. |
| I don't have a sponsor! What do I do? |
| Never fear, when we see an application come through without a sponsor, we locate one for the recruit. |
| I talked to my sponsor, and submitted my application, now what? |
| Go back to the, "Forms," section on this site. If you followed all of the directions in the first FAQ section, you will now see a form called the Recruit Form. Fill this one out just as you did the Application, and click the, "Send," button. Remind your sponsor that they have a form to complete, as well. Council can't vote on you until both you and your sponsor submit your forms. |
| I'm sponsoring a recruit, what am I supposed to do with them? |
Get to know your recruit. Remember, this is your Order, so be sure you get to know your recruit before making a recommendation to Council.
Review the bylaws and the programs with your recruit, and be sure they are familiar with them.
Click on the, "Forms," section of the main menu on this site. As a full-member you will see the Sponsor Form. Complete this form and click on, "Send," to forward it to the Council.
Be prepared, and prepare your recruit, for the possibility that the Council may want to talk to one or both of you about the application. |
| I've been voted in, how do I get my badge? |
| Try to attend the next General Meeting. Watch the calendar for dates & times. Per the bylaws, you must be sworn in. This is a bit of a treat for older members to watch the recruits get their badges, so we try to administer the oath thingie where all can applaud you. If you can't make the General Meeting, send the Commander a private message or IM. |
| How do you get the affiliation title? |
| First, make sure you have your affiliation title visible. Second, tap your badge. "of the Order of the Dragon Shield," should now be one of your options if it's not automatically set as your affiliation title. |
